In the early years of SHIELD there was a mystic division. It was highly experimental and highly frowned upon by most higher ups, but since Director Peggy Carter said give it a chance, it got its chance.

Jessica Drew is a talented agent and witch. She seemingly came out of nowhere but no one can doubt her skills. When rumors of odd lights beneath the waters off the coast of Arkham, Mass. reach Directer Carter's desk, rumors which match similar sightings off the coast of Innsmouth several decades before, she knows exactly who to send. Besides, she'd been meaning to enroll Agent Drew in Miskatonic University for a while now, so the timing is perfect.

Little does anyone know of Drew's history with the Hydra cult.

They hit Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania late in the evening and decide to swing by the area the attacks are coming from. Attacks supposedly perpetrated by elderly persons.

(Jess tries her best not to snicker and take the case seriously. She is a professional after all.)

The neighborhood seems calm, despite the number of nursing homes. Perhaps it's all a ruse.

It does in fact turn out to be a ruse. While questioning a couple that is out for their evening constitutional, they are menaced by a pack of elderly patients that seem to have missed their pudding at dinner. Jess, Ben, and Roger get separated in the melee, Jess trying her best not hurt their attack, though she's wondering if they're aliens or something, but they seem just as fragile as you'd expect, if angry and nearly feral.

Jess takes to the roofs to escape them and disappears into the shadows. Waiting until the pack below her gives up, she follows them back to their lair, only to discover it's one of the nursing homes. What's more, they're being possessed by some hipster sorcerer and the sorcerer has plans for turning Ben into a sacrifice, while Roger is MIA.

Jess bursts in, just about to venom blast the hipster sorcerer, when the hipster sorcerer's arms turn into literal demons and attack her, one managing to bite her face. She blasts it in the face, but it doesn't seem impressed. The other demon arm knocks her almost off balance and they end up grappling one another until Jess gets the upper hand and gives him a mouth full of venom blast, which works this time. The demon arms explode into a cloud of Alpo fart and Jess knocks out the sorcerer, saving Ben and the elderly, who stand around dazed and confused.

(When did this become her life?)

Right about then, Roger falls through the door with three elderly matrons on top of him as they pass out from the strain of possession. Jess looks down at him with a raised eyebrow and he blurts out, "This isn't what it looks like!"

A week of training Roger later, and he is hopeless and she is ready for a break. He has no instincts, no reflexs, and has honestly been following her around like a puppy. She still wants to help him make something of himself, but she needs space. Which meant when Ulrich proposed traveling to some of the locations from his files she was all over the idea. She immediately went out and got a car; a souped up, baby blue land yacht from the '50s she immediately fell in love with, even if she couldn't remember what the make and model were. She named it Baby Landshark.

Day of departure and Baby Landshark is loaded but Ulrich keeps looking at his watch. He also didn't load the files in the trunk or put them in the back seat. In fact there is a suspicious lack of files. She's about to ask him what's up when a messenger interrupts them with a package for her. It's from Natasha and so she signs for it and tears it open just enough to see what's inside. Her old costume, as she's thought.

Tossing the package into the trunk, a reluctant realization occurs to Jess, one she doesn't want to think of. "Ben, where are the files?"

He looks at his watch again and then around the neighborhood."They'll be here."

She wants to face palm. "Please tell me you didn't."

Just then Roger comes running around the corner, giant duffel bag bouncing on his hip, a map clutched in his hand, and a box of donuts in the other, "Sorry I'm late guys. I wanted to get some food for the road. Every road trip has to start with the right food."

Jess side-eyes Ulrich and hisses, "You did. Damn it."

"Sorry."

"No you're not."

"Well, how's Porcupine supposed to turn over a new leaf if you don't show him how?"

He had a point, even if it was an inconvenient one. "Shut up."

Roger stops at the trunk, panting, and throws his duffel in. "I stayed up late studying the files and plotted us a route." Jess waits just long enough for both men to take their seats before she guns the engine.

That was one heck of a caper. She knows that sounds too Nancy Drew for a big time super-hero (shush, she is one) but she can't qualify the past week any other way. Ben Ulrich was definitely onto something with his case files on the rash of D-list super villain robberies, but she wasn't sure if even he could have predicted where the trail all lead, a haven for the ex-wives and ex-girlfriends and their kids.

While Jess certainly could understand, and maybe even applaud their sisterhood and ingenuity, she had to put a stop the blackmail and grand larceny. Being beat up by a working model of the exosuit from Aliens went a long way towards her being able to put her foot down and get the town to promise no more extortion. In exchange, Jess promised not to involve the authorities nor tell the fathers about the whole scheme.

She would keep an eye on them though, just to make sure they followed through. Plus, the town could be a good place to hideout if she ever needed one.

Now she had a sort of partner with Ulrich, which to be honest was nice. He had a lot of files on things that a returning to the field PI could be of use with and he was good company. Cynical with a dash of optimism just like herself.

The weird fallout was her new protege, or maybe sidekick was a better description. Roger Gocking, aka the Porcupine. After the mess with the ex-wives' haven, he'd asked her to teach him how to be a hero; which honestly was the most unexpected thing. She somehow inspired him and how could she say no?

She wasn't sure she was ready for this, but also didn't see that she had much of a choice. She did have some experience in changing from being a black hat to a white. Yippee-cay-yay mother fucker.

Jess took her lunch to a Central Park bench and did her best to not think of anything. Ulrich’s files and research were spinning in her head and she knew she’d reached the point where she needed to let things simmer in the back of her head. Let her subconscious take over for a bit.

At the first bite of the pastrami on rye, she sighed and closed her eyes to just absorb the flavors. The sounds of the park dimmed as the spices danced across her awareness. Life didn’t get better than this.

“Marty’s makes the best pastrami, don’t they?”

The voice interrupted her bliss and she opened her eyes with a scowl. “You couldn’t give me a couple more minutes to enjoy it? You been trailing me for ten blocks, but no, you just had to interrupt the pastrami making love to my tongue.”

“TMI,” Sharon Carter said with a grin. “This is the first time you’ve been alone. Nice to know you haven’t lost your instincts.”

“What can I do for you Agent 13?” Jess wiped at the corner of her mouth with a napkin, signing again to see some of the spicy mustard being wasted to the paper.

“OK. Straight to business. Do you think America is worth protecting?”

Surprised at the question, Jess half turned to face the other woman. “What the hell kind of question is that? With my career? I’ve been an Avenger!”

“Yes. I know. But there’s a difference between protecting innocents and protecting America. Do you think America, the country is worth protecting?”

Jess opened her mouth to answer but paused and closed it with a snap to think. “I think the people are worth protecting. I think the ideas the Constitution laid out are worth protecting. I don’t always agree with the government and what it’s done though. But aside from that, yes America as an ideal is worth protecting.”

“Excellent. Would you be interested in working with me and a few others from time to time? Black ops sometimes, over the table other times. I will be honest with my team, but we may not always be able to go to the authorities.”

“What kind of oversight is there? This sounds like it could go bad easy enough.”

“Just ourselves. You can walk any time if you feel it’s going in places you aren’t comfortable with.”

Jess offered her hand. “Fair enough. I’m in as long as HYDRA isn’t involved.”

“Oh no. In fact they, and their spin-offs are our main targets. Welcome to the Daughters of Liberty, Spider-Woman. I’ll be in touch.” As she stood she pulled out her phone, typing and then looking up to Jess, whose phone rang. “My contact. Don’t bother trying to track the number. It’s bouncing off a bunch of servers and other computer things I don’t quite get.”

elderly Jess from CapMarvel:The End

She stood with the others and waited, knowing Carol wouldn't let them down. Then, just as she knew, the dim sun flared and within minute they felt the renewed heat warm her old bones. Tears fell down her cheeks and she whispered, "You finally found that thing to kill yourself against. Thank you."

Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 160lbs (While she appears to be more around 130 lbs, her muscle density makes her heavier than she seems)
Eyes: Green
Hair: Black

Powers: Spider-Woman possesses superhuman powers derived from the genetic experiment that granted her spider-like abilities. Her muscular density and strength have been extraordinarily enhances and enable her to lift at least 7 tons. As a result she also possesses speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes much greater than even the finest human athlete, and is greatly resistant to injury. Her rapid metabolism significantly increases her ability to heal as well as makes her far less susceptible to toxins, poisons, and drugs, and her body is totally immune to most forms of radiation.

Her hearing is superhumanly acute and enables her to detect sound at virtually any frequency, and she's been known to detect, sort out, and correctly identify sounds through thick steel doors, and across considerable distances.

Jessica's body possesses an inordinate amount of bio-electricity that she has learned to channel and discharge through her hands in controlled bursts of what she calls "Venom Blasts". She is capable of regulating their power from a simple stun blast to a lethal discharge. Via electrostatic attraction, Jessica is capable of adhering to most surfaces, granting her the spider-like ability to "wall crawl."

Her metabolism generates certain types of pheromones that can create fear, elicit attraction and/or repulsion on others, depending on unknown factors which might include gender and mood (i.e. what ever narration needs). She does no tile this power and avoids using it.

Skills/Talents: Due to her membership in several super-spy organizations, Jessica Drew is highly trained in the most cutting-edge espionage and intelligence techniques. She is also an expert martial artist and seasoned private detective, well versed in the latest law enforcement protocols and methods.

Weapons/Equipment: Jessica possesses a wristwatch-sized device that grants her access to an alternate reality gateway, the most notable and frequently visited of which is Universe-65. She also has a palm-sized device, much like a smartphone, which can determine if those in the near area are human (based on a variety of biological factors) and if they are likely from her home dimension (determined by dimensional vibration); neither metric is exact. Her preferred mode of transportation is a very fast, classic American motorcycle.

Fun Fact: Jessica Drew loves butter. A biscuit to put it on is nice, but not a deal breaker.
